Missionary: Collaborative Photographs

The photographs above were made by Mormon missionaries that I have befriended during my time in Louisiana. I see this work as a collaborative effort between myself and these young men. I was not present when the pictures were taken, but for that reason, I believe this work peels back a layer in their life that would go unnoticed if I were present. This collaboritive work asks, what do these young men gain from serving a two-year mission? Are they learning problem-solving skills and the means to adapt to their surroundings beyond an insular society and how does a mission benefit these young men other than being groomed for a lifelong commitment to the Church?
